GENERAL

Here is how you can obtain an IRS Determination Letter dated within the past five years:

Although the IRS does not re-issue new Determination Letters, you can obtain an “Affirmation Letter” by calling the IRS at 1-877-829-5500. (Press 1 for English; press 2 for questions about exempt organizations; then press 4 to verify status of exempt organizations.) The letter “affirms” your current tax-exempt status as of the date it was requested and can be submitted with your grant application in place of your original Determination Letter.

What’s the difference between a fiscal sponsor vs. a fiscal agent?

A fiscal sponsor is a nonprofit organization that agrees to take ownership of an entity or project that is not recognized as a public charity by the IRS, sharing its corporate and 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. A fiscal agent provides various administrative and/or accounting services for an entity or project, but does not take on legal ownership or liability.

Online Application

Do you need to retrieve your password from our online portal account?

Go to the Anschutz Family Foundation Grantee Portal Login page and click the “Forgot your password?” link. Type in your Username (email) and select “Reset Password.” Instructions for resetting your password will be sent to your inbox (or it may also be in your spam folder).

Do you want to access an in-progress application?

You can access all in-progress applications or view submitted applications, LOIs, or final reports from the “Grantee Login” link at the top of our website.

How should you address your grant application cover letter?

Cover letters are optional; however, including one is a great way to easily communicate what has changed or what is new within your organization since your last grant request. For new organizations, a cover letter can provide an overview of the purpose of the grant request and a brief description of how the request fits with the Foundation’s mission and grantmaking priorities. If you include one, it can be addressed to:

        Ms. Sue Anschutz-Rodgers
        Chair and President
        Anschutz Family Foundation
        555 17th Street, Ste. 2400
        Denver, CO 80202

How can you be sure the Foundation has received your grant application?

You will receive an immediate email confirmation upon successful submission of your online application. You can also view the status of all applications by going to the “My Grant Applications and LOIs” page within the Grantee Portal.

When will you next hear from the Foundation?

The grant application review process takes about four months. If we have any questions or need additional information, we will contact you by phone or email. Also, a site visit may be scheduled. Neither of these steps is an indication of funding. The Foundation will communicate a decision about your proposal by mail in late-May for spring cycle applications or late-November for fall cycle applications.
