Anschutz Family Foundation Announces Leadership Transition Honoring Sue Anschutz-Rodgers’ 44 Years of Service

Denver, Colorado — July 1, 2026 — The Anschutz Family Foundation today announced a historic leadership transition, marking the conclusion of 44-years of service by longtime Board Chair and President Sue Anschutz-Rodgers. Effective May 20, 2026, Anschutz-Rodgers has stepped down from her role as Chair and President and has been named Chair Emeritus. She will continue to serve as a member of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees and support the transition, which has been underway over the past year.

A charter member of the Board and the Foundation’s founding President and Executive Director, Anschutz-Rodgers has played a central role in guiding the organization since its inception. Her leadership has helped carry forward the founders’ values—strengthening families and communities and supporting people in helping themselves—remain at the core of the Foundation’s work.

As part of this transition, Susan Rodgers Drumm has been named Chair of the Board. A granddaughter of the Foundation’s founders and the daughter of Sue Anschutz-Rodgers, Drumm has been involved with the Foundation for many years, including serving as a program officer from 1994 to 2001 and as a member of the Board of Trustees since that time. She brings longstanding institutional knowledge and a deep commitment to the Foundation’s mission.

“This moment is both deeply personal and forward-looking,” said Susan Rodgers Drumm. “I am honored to follow my mother’s remarkable leadership and to work alongside a Board and team who are so committed to Colorado’s communities. The Foundation’s values are enduring, and I look forward to stewarding the family’s legacy into the future.”

The Foundation also noted several internal leadership appointments. Abel Wurmnest has been appointed President. He has served as Executive Director since 2017 after joining the Foundation as a Program Officer in 2011, and will continue to help lead the Foundation’s work in partnership with the Board of Trustees. In addition, Zoe Krusic has been promoted to Executive Vice President. Since joining the Foundation in 2018, she has served in a range of roles, including Grants Manager, Program Officer, and most recently Senior Program Officer, and has played an integral role in advancing the Foundation’s grantmaking and programmatic work.

As the Anschutz Family Foundation looks ahead, it will continue its focus on supporting organizations that strengthen families and communities across Colorado, with a particular commitment to rural regions and to advancing effective, collaborative philanthropy statewide.
